Hingham and Beverly, MA
Hingham - Boston Private Bank decided to rehabilitate this 19th century commercial building in downtown Hingham Square as its South Shore presence. The challenge was to transform it into a functional banking facility that was secure, structurally sound and provided full access to all levels while meeting town and state requirements for the renovation of historic buildings.
Beverly - The first floor consists of a welcoming banking hall with a salon for customer use overlooking Central Street. The focus is a granite compass rose and domed ceiling. We excavated and stabilized the crawl space for mechanical equipment. The second level is for administration, and the third level for future expansion. A new two-story, 5,700 square foot building serves as a gateway from Beverly to Wenham and Hamilton on busy Route 1A. The Georgian-inspired brick structure is an appropriately dignified landmark for the bank's North Shore location. Customers at the entry level are welcomed by a dramatic two-story banking hall leading to conference rooms, sitting areas and offices for their personal use, in addition to areas for tellers and bank officers. A travertine floor and sweeping curved stair lead to a mezzanine level. Provision has been made for the exhibition of paintings and sculpture throughout. A full basement also allows for future expansion.
